GOULD LEAGUE RECOUNT

May28

On Friday, 22nd May we went to Gould League. We went on the bus with 1 /2Pr and 1 /2Be. First we went into a large room to eat our snack. Next we went into anto large room and acted out the story called “The Sad Compost Bin”. The characters were Miss Magpie played by Alessia, the children played by Minh-Tam and Billy and Mr Brown by Anley.

The story was about the compost bin that had nothing in it because the family had moved away. The next activity was the shrinking machine. We learnt about mini-beasts that help make compost. Next we went to see the earthworms. We discovered earthworms have no eyes, ears or nose, only a mouth. An adult earthworm has a saddle where the baby earthworms will hatch from.

We slid down the yellow slide and went to the garden. We saw a compost bin and an edible garden. We picked and smelt plants you could put on a pizza. After that we walked to another learning area and examined some animal bones. We examined a goat’s head, a sheep’s head and a joey’s head. It was very interesting.

Next we went to the classroom to go ponding. We saw yabbies, a water boatman and tadpoles. Next we ate our lunch. After lunch we went on a mini-beast safari in the forest. We found some creatures underground. We put them in a little container and took them inside. Sue gave us a closer look at our creatures on the television. We then sat in a circle and got to touch a stick insect and a giant cockroach. We talked about lots of different lifecycles.

After that it was time time to go back to school. We felt excited and happy. Gould League was excellent!
